The CIF San Diego Section championships will take place at Mt. Carmel High School on Saturday, May 18 and a few of Coronado High School’s track and field athletes will be competing.

Those advancing are:

  • The 4×100-meter relay team—made up of Tatiana Potter, Lauren Gilhooly, Lindsey Balsley, and Summer Little— have advanced to the sectional meet on Saturday and will be seeded fifth. Their time was 48.33, which was only .11 seconds off the school record.
  • Gilhooly advanced to the sectional meet in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. She placed second in both to state leader Amirah Shaheed from Madison High School. Her 200-meter time of 24.36 was a personal record and school record. Gilhooly is seeded second in both events for the section meet with Shaheed to top seed.
  • Lindsey Balsley advanced in the girls long jump with a mark of 16’11.50”.
  • Nathan Ayan and Rafael Roos placed first and second, respectively, for the 800-meter run. Ayan is seeded sixth and Roos is seeded ninth. Ayan’s time of 1:58.71 was a personal record. Roos finished close behind with 1:58.87.
