3 Sunday: The 37th annual MotorCars on MainStreet event will pack the heart of Coronado from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 3, celebrating classic and custom automobiles. This year’s event will feature 1975 and older restored antiques, classics, rods, and custom cars, trucks, and lowriders.

3 Sunday: The Coronado Ferry Landing is slated to host a free weekend concert featuring the Moonlight Serenade Orchestra at 2 p.m.

6 Wednesday: The Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents Film Forum Coronado, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library’s Winn Room. 

Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story. The featured film on May 6 is “Outsourced.”

9 Saturday: The Coronado Philharmonia Orchestra will present the second annual “CPO Concerto Competition,” open to young instrumentalists ages 7 to 18. Participants have been preselected through a screening process and will each perform a piece on strings, winds, brass, piano, harp or guitar live in the Winn Room from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
