The Coronado Public Library continually hosts events throughout the year.
Here’s a rundown of what’s coming in July:
15 Saturday: The Coronado Public Library, in partnership with Warwick’s bookstore, will host author Sujata Massey as she discusses and signs her new book, “The Mistress of Bhatia House” (Perveen Mistry #4) at 1:00 p.m.
Free open seating is first-come, first-served, subject to available space.
Priority seating is available for each person who pre-orders a book through Warwick’s at https://www.warwicks.com/massey-2023-reserved-seat.
Priority seat holders will receive a copy of “The Mistress of Bhatia House” when they check
in at the event.
Guaranteed seating is unnumbered and first-come, first-served. Please call the Warwick’s Book Department at 858-454-0347 for more information. Books will be available for sale at the event.

16 Sunday: The Coronado Public Library will host a reception from 2-4 p.m. to Open Poly Photo Club’s 75th Anniversary Exhibit in the Spreckels Reading Room.
Founded in 1948, the Poly Photo Club at Balboa Park has nurtured photographers of all types and skill levels to create award-winning photographs.
The club has evolved from film to digital and now includes cellphone photography.
In this show, 25 photographers show their images taken over the past 13 years.
Poly provides camaraderie, education and activity/experience to create multi-style images through photography and technology. This exhibit runs from July 16 to September 17.
18 Tuesday: Bubble Day. Come have some fun playing with bubbles at 2 p.m.
19 Wednesday: The library’s Teen Summer Reading Event — ‘90s Food Fest Taste Test – will be at 2 p.m. . Try classic 1990s foods and candy while enjoying ’90s music and activities. Teen events are for those entering or finishing grades 6-12. Library staff cannot guarantee that food served at this program has not come into contact with tree nuts, soy, or other allergens.
19 Wednesday: Film Forum Coronado screens “Sommeren Med Monika (Summer With Monika)” in the Winn Room at 6 p.m. Film expert Ralph de Lauro introduces the film and leads a discussion afterwards. Inspired by the earthy eroticism of Harriet Andersson, Ingmar Bergman turned out this sensual and ravaging tale of young love. A rebellious young girl and a conservative young boy from working-class families run away to spend a secluded romantic summer at the beach. It’s not long before they are forced to return to reality. (Swedish with English subtitles,1953, 98 min)
