The Coronado Island Film Festival (CIFF) will premiere “Tears to a Glass Eye,” a film by Chicago-based writer and director Jack Kenny and produced by Matt Corrado and Emilio Morrone, on Nov. 9 during the festival’s 10th annual celebration.
Kenny’s award-winning film starring Chris Browning as Martin Dye and Natasha Henstridge as Dori is among more than 130 films to be featured in the annual festival, which runs from Nov. 5–9.
“Tears to a Glass Eye” will screen at the Coronado Performing Arts Center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. Kenny will attend the premiere for an audience Q&A before and after the screening alongside actors Browning (Dye), Henstridge (Dori) and Sam Cass (Jimmy Kyle).
“Tears to a Glass Eye” follows Dye, a retired L.A. detective, as he investigates a 20-year-old car crash involving a recently deceased drug dealer that leads him through a web of deception.
“A neo-noir detective film must have some traditional noir elements, but it must also have some difference,” said Kenny. “I wanted ‘Tears to a Glass Eye’ to thrill audiences with mystery, while also giving them moments of relatability and light. It’s set in an everyday American town, but anything can happen here.”
Kenny’s film has received awards for best director, best mystery, best film noir, and several other accolades across festivals in Los Angeles, New York, Milan, Cannes and Portugal.
“Reaching our tenth year is more than a milestone — it’s a testament to resilience, reinvention and the enduring power of story,” said Merridee Book, CIFF CEO and artistic director. “This lineup reflects both where we’ve been and where we’re going: bold, diverse, and future-facing.”
