The Coronado High School swim team pulled off a win in their first dual meet of the season on March 11 against Scripps Ranch High School, with the girls’ team edging out the other team 91-57, and the boys’ team finishing with a score of 112-59.
Senior and captain Chloe Quarles and junior Gage Everitt both won their individual events, the 200 individual medley and 100 fly, respectively. They also led off their respective 400 free relays, both finishing first by large margins.
Senior Ally Fabrey finished first in the 200 free and Jillian Stachowicz handed in the best time in the 500 free. Coronado girls also won the 200 free relay, completed by Kailyn Cornell, Ellie White, Bella Zazueta and Fabrey.
On the boys’ scorecard, Andre Poole and Liam Knapp finished first in the 50 freestyle and the 100 free, respectively. Poole and Knapp assisted in winning 200 free relay as well, along with Van Marniacs and Reed Karosich. Russell Richardson came out on top in the 100 backstroke and Cedrick Tolentino contributed to the Islander win with a first place finish in the 500 free.
The Islanders next face The Bishop’s School on the road on Friday, March 21 at 3:30 p.m.
