SAN DIEGO — Cmdr. Christopher Caraway was relieved by Cmdr. Ryan Doyle as the commanding officer of the USS Omaha Blue crew during a change-of-command ceremony held at the USS Midway Museum in San Diego on Dec. 5.

During Caraway’s time in command, he led the Omaha Blue crew through a one-year maintenance period, completed basic phase certifications and successfully completed underway mobility-engineering certifications.

“To the crew, I am extremely proud of you and all that you have accomplished. You have proven yourselves time and time again to be resilient, adaptable and capable of achieving success,” said Caraway. “You are what makes Omaha exceptional, and it has been a privilege to serve alongside you all.”

During the ceremony, Caraway was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for his superior accomplishments. Caraway will be reporting to Commander, Naval Air Forces, Pacific Fleet for his next tour of duty.

Omaha is homeported in San Diego as a part of Littoral Combat Ship Squadron 1.
