The Coronado Island Film Festival wrapped its ninth season over Veterans Day weekend and has announced the 2024 winners. 

Notable winners this year include Sean McNamara’s “Bau: Artist at War” taking the Jury Prize for Best Narrative Film and Lisa Lander’s “Giants Rising” winning the Jury Prize for Best Documentary.

The film festival’s coveted Emerald Award went to David Allen’s “Wilding” from HHMI/Tangled Bank Studios. 

Jury Prize winners in the short film categories were led by Eduardo Escribano-Solera’s “The Masterpiece” for Best Narrative Short Film. The Jury Prize for Best Short Documentary went to Jacob Krupnick’s “Then Comes the Body.”

The Audience Awards include “A Real Pain” (Searchlight Pictures) for Best Narrative Feature, “Sugarcane” (Nat Geo) for Best Documentary Feature, “Robert Shields: My Life as a Robot” (My Monkey House) and “I Need You: 53 Years of the Band America” for Best Indie Documentary Feature.

Best Narrative Short went to “Belief” and Best Documentary Short went to “The Final Copy of Ilon Specht” (Breakwater Studios).

In the local category, Best Local Documentary Short went to “You Will Not Replace Us” and “Bootstrap Cafe” took Best Local Narrative Short.
