The Coronado Police Department reported an attempted kidnapping near the Coronado Public Library at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27.

A 16-year-old girl called 911 after a man parked his vehicle nearby and demanded she get into his car. She was waiting for the bus in the library park. When she refused, he grabbed her arm, but she was able to escape and run to safety, according to a release from the police department.

The victim provided dispatchers with a detailed description of the man’s vehicle and license plate. Officers quickly located the suspect, 45-year-old Nan Wang, in his car about a block away.

Wang was arrested and charged with attempted kidnapping and annoying/molesting a child. He was transported to San Diego Central Jail.
