IKEA is really stepping it up recently when it comes to their pet care section. While they’ve always had a couple of cute pet items, IKEA was more so known for their people furniture, not their pet furniture.
Until now, at least. Recently, they came out with a new pet line, and the pictures they shared ahead of release were cute enough. When we got to see the actual products on the shelves, like in this video from Sunday, May 19th, it was even better:

Katie and Baby Luna are making me seriously jealous. I’ve never even lived somewhere close to an IKEA! Let me go get lost trying to get to the meatballs already!

IKEA’s new UTSÅDD collection was first announced earlier this year, and the world went wild for it. It combined the quality of a good pet care collection with IKEA’s trademark Swedish influence. The furniture and toys boasted a very modern, yet slightly quirky aesthetic, and they were relatively affordable!
Katie admitted that she wished there had been more color options for at least one item, which might keep people from picking up their favorite pieces of this collection. In general, IKEA tends to favor colors like yellow, white, and blue, which is evident in this collection. However, it’s a small price to pay; it’s all so cute it’s actually a little bit crazy. I don’t even have a cat, but that’s okay; they have some dog items, too!
Why do cats love ‘cat houses’ so much?
One of the focal points of the UTSÅDD collection are the different cat houses. They have boxy ones, plushy ones, some that are coincidentally a perfect fit for the cubes on some of IKEA’s other furniture, etc.,. With 4 cat houses in the collection, you can tell IKEA really thought about what a cat would get the most use out of.
Cats like to hide. They love playing in/curling up in cardboard boxes or laundry baskets because it gives them a perfect place to be out of sight, and they’re often small enough for them to curl up in. A cat house has a single, usually small entry hole and is completely covered on all other sides. They can feel like they’re squeezing and protected from the rest of the world. They just adore it, which is why most cat trees include at least one!
Just my opinion, but the cat house in the UTSÅDD collection that was made to fit in the cubes of some furniture pieces are genius. If you have a cat who’s constantly jumping up on your furniture, giving them a designated place to do it would be the perfect way to keep the rest of your things safe!
