The holidays really are a magical time. The general merriment, the food, the parties, and, of course, all the wonderful decor.
And this magic isn’t lost on our cat friends.
They are often quite mesmerized by all the Christmas decor.
That is evident in this new video from @sydneynoelsmith featuring a Tabbey cat and two sweet gray and white cats sitting, or rather nestled, under the tree just soaking up all the Christmas wonder.
They seem so calm under the tree and just want to be close to all the beautiful lights but just to stare at them, not to bat at them.
Accompanied by the beautiful “The Polar Express” (2004) score composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri, with orchestrations provided by William Ross and Conrad Pope.
This video will truly give you all the holiday feels!

Many of the comments on the video featured TikTok users posting their own photos of cats under the tree.
Guess this is a popular spot for kitties!
Some like to be under the tree skirt while others are perfectly happy laying on top of the skirt.
Wherever they sit, it is adorable!
Are Christmas trees dangerous for cats?
With all these kitties so drawn to the tree, you have to ask if it is safe for them to be in such proximity to these trees?
So the answer is yes, but it doesn’t mean they can’t be near the trees.
According to PetMD, fir, spruce, and pine trees, which are all very common, have oils and sap that are mildly toxic to cats.
If they chew on a few branches, they should be fine, but if they consume a large quantity they could have gastrointestinal issues or mouth irritations.
If they swallow fallen needles, they can clump together in the cat’s stomach and potentially puncture the lining of the esophagus, stomach, or intestines, which can lead to major health issues.
If you see this happen, call your vet or the Pet Poison Helpline.
Tree water can also be an issue for cats as it has toxic oils, including fertilizer, preservatives, and sugar substitutes (which are the most dangerous of the three for cats).
If you do add anything to your tree’s water, do anything you can to prevent the cat from having access and potentially drinking it.
So if your cat does love to be near the tree, just be sure to observe them carefully so they aren’t ingesting tons of needles or drinking the water.
There are worse ways to spend one’s time than sitting around the Christmas tree with your cats!
