The Port of San Diego will host a second public meeting on Nov. 19 at 5 p.m. to update the Coronado community on the Grand Caribe Shoreline Park coastal resilience project.
Located on a 2.4-acre section of an artificial peninsula in the Coronado Cays, the park has faced severe erosion that threatens its native habitats, shoreline and beach, according to the Port.
The Port’s initiative aims to stabilize the shoreline, reduce erosion and preserve its existing habitat while ensuring continued public access.
The agency will present an updated design concept reflecting feedback from the first meeting, alongside a discussion on the potential impacts like storms and flooding from El Niño.
The meeting will also outline next steps which include engineering design drawings. While the full project timeline depends on funding, the Port noted that short-term, temporary measures may be expedited to handle upcoming El Niño weather patterns.
The meeting will be held in the Grand Caribe Room at the Coronado Cays Homeowners Association.
