Coronado is a popular city for e-bikes, especially in the summer months.
To refresh riders on the city’s rules for usage, a list of safety tips were included in a recent update from the city manager’s office.
According to the city, e-bikes are allowed on roadways, sharrows, bike lanes and designated bike paths.
Riding on sidewalks, beaches, parks, the Hotel del Coronado Paseo, the Coronado Shores boardwalk, and the Promenade between Glorietta Bay Park and Bluewater Boathouse is prohibited.
Additionally, all children under the age of 12 are not allowed to ride e-bikes in Coronado. Fines of up to $25 may be imposed for violators. Helmets are required for all riders under 18, and strongly recommended for any rider regardless of age.
