The Coronado Island Film Festival is slated to host a free screening of “Shane,” a 1953 classic western film, as part of this year’s Educational Classic Film Program.
The screening, at the Coronado Public Library at 1:30 p.m. on March 22, is free and open to the public.
Following the event will be a discussion of the film’s significance cinematically, historically and culturally. The screener with the “best take” during discussion will receive a hard-copy of the Jack Schaefer novel, compliments of the film festival.
The remaining 2026 screening schedule is: “The Maltese Falcon” and “Double Indemnity” in April, and “A Tale of Two Cities” (1937)” and “Les Misérables” in May.
