5 Sunday: The Coronado Fire and Police Departments are planning to host a public safety open house to kick off National Fire Prevention Week on Oct. 5.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., community members can visit the area between the fire station on Sixth Street and the police department on Seventh Street and D Avenue to meet the city’s firefighters, police officers and beach lifeguards.
7 Tuesday: The Coronado Island Film Festival is scheduled to host a volunteer meeting on Oct. 7 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library ahead of the November festival.
8 Wednesday: Bestselling author Clare Leslie Hall is slated to discuss her new novel, “Broken Country,” in conversation with Jason Blitman at the Coronado Public Library at 7 p.m. on Oct. 8. The event is free and open to the public; seating is first-come, first-served.
12 Sunday: The Coronado Ferry Landing is scheduled to host a weekend concert on Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. featuring the band “Pomerado.”
