Editor’s Note: The Coronado News will be providing a regular roundup of sporting events for Coronado High School.

The 2-1 Coronado High School football team will play Mission Bay High this week — a team that’s 3-1 in the season so far. The Islanders are coming off of a 42-35 loss to Maranatha Christian.

19 Friday: Coronado volleyball heads to Bonita Vista High School for a JV/varsity doubleheader. JV starts at 4:30 p.m., varsity at 6. 

The football team is playing Mission Bay, at Mission Bay High School. The JV game kicks off at 4  p.m., followed by varsity at 7. 

The cross country team will run in the Woodbridge Classic at the Great Park in Irvine. The first event for Coronado High, varsity girls B heat, starts at 8:52 p.m. 

22 Monday: Volleyball starts the week off with a match at home against Santana High. The JV game starts at 4:30, followed by varsity at 6:15. 

Varsity golf is at Mission Bay, teeing off at 4. 

23 Tuesday: Coronado water polo heads north to Mt. Carmel for a JV/varsity doubleheader, at 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. The varsity golf team will face Point Loma High School, teeing off at 3:22 p.m. Varsity tennis has a home match against Christian High School, starting at 4 p.m. 

24 Wednesday: Coronado girls volleyball plays their second match of the week at Our Lady of Peace High School. Matches start at 4:30 and 6:15 p.m. 

The golf team will also face OLP, but in Coronado, teeing off at 3:30. 

25 Thursday: The Islanders girls tennis team play their second home match of the week, against High Tech High San Diego, at 4 p.m. 

JV football plays at home against Mar Vista, also at 4. 

26 Friday: CHS water polo and football round out the week for the Islanders. Water polo plays a doubleheader at home against Clairemont; games start at 3:30 and 4:30. Varsity football kicks off against Mar Vista at 7 p.m. at home.
