Coronado police stopped a robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank on Orange Avenue on Sept. 22, arriving at the scene while the suspect was still in the bank.
According to the Coronado Police Department (CPD), a 46-year-old male passed a note to the bank teller demanding money. An employee contacted the police and officers arrived “in less than one minute.”
The Wells Fargo is only one block away from the police department.
Videos posted to social media show a San Diego County Sheriff’s helicopter was deployed to the scene and armed National City police approached the man, his hands up, outside the bank.
The suspect, whose identity was not released, was booked into San Diego County Jail on suspicion of robbery. The police reported no injuries.
CPD’s investigations unit is investigating the incident with assistance from the FBI.
