Led by veteran bassist and educator Rob Thorsen, the Rob Thorsen Trio will perform a free concert featuring a blend of swing, soul and jazz at 1 p.m. on Aug. 22 at the Coronado Public Library.

A fixture of the Southern California jazz scene, Thorsen is known for his dynamic range, expressive style and dedication to music education.

Joining him are pianist Melonie Grinnell, praised for her versatility and artistry, and drummer Richard Sellers, whose three-decade career spans everything from straight-ahead jazz to Brazilian and funk rhythms.

This trio will share a genre-spanning performance. Admission is free and seating is open, so guests are encouraged to arrive early. Doors will open at 12:45.
