At the end of July, a Coronado men’s tennis team made it to the semifinals of the U.S. Tennis Association’s Southern California sectional tournament in the 3.5 division.

The team won the regular season, finishing with a 7-1 record, before advancing to the sectional tournament where they won the first three matches. In the semifinal match, the group fell 1-4.

“I’m extremely proud of our Coronado men’s team for advancing to the tournament semifinals for the first time since I’ve been serving as the captain,” said Mike Kamas, captain of the team. “We won some really close matches against the best 3.5 rated teams in Southern California and our team showed mental toughness and resiliency throughout the season.  Everyone contributed in one way or another and I think we’ll be back again to represent San Diego next year.”
