3 Sunday: Art in the Park is scheduled on Aug. 3 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Spreckels Park. More than 50 top artists in San Diego County, in every genre, will display their artwork, providing the community the chance to converse directly with the artists.
3 Sunday: SixWire, along with a special guest, will perform at Spreckels Park at 6 p.m. as part of the Coronado Promenade Concerts’ summer series.
Prior to the concert, the Coronado Chamber of Commerce will recognize local military members with an awards program at 5 p.m. The celebration will start with a performance of the National Anthem by the 1st Marine Division Band accompanied by the Coronado High School NJROTC Color Guard. Three awards will be presented to local military members.
5 Tuesday: An SAT prep workshop is planned at the Coronado Public Library at 6 p.m. by Steve Reiss, owner of Reiss SAT Seminars and the Math Magician. Registration is required at coronado.librarycalendar.com.
6 Wednesday: Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents Film Forum Coronado, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library’s Winn Room.
Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story. The featured film on Aug. 6 is “12 Angry Men.”
