Cuteness aggression is a very real thing. Different people have cuteness aggression over different things, too: for me, I see a Bernese mountain puppy and they’re so precious it makes me angry. Part of it may also be the way I am so jealous, but…

Recently, one Bernese mountain puppy got the hiccups, and it was so cute it might just give everyone else cuteness aggression, too! He didn’t really understand them, but luckily, they were still very sweet:

Koda Bear the Bernese mountain puppy handled his first-time hiccups like a total champ. When my youngest dog was a puppy, she’d get the hiccups and start barking in between as if she was trying to scare them away!

Koda is only three months old, and he’s currently living in Michigan with his mama. He’s already 31 pounds, which is about the same size as one of my full-grown Boston Terriers, and he’s got a while left to grow! Right now, he’s in his fluffy “mashed potato” phase!

As a puppy, Koda is no stranger to the hiccups anymore: puppies get hiccups all the time. When he gets them, you can definitely tell he hates them, but they luckily don’t last very long. After a little bout, he’s back to playing in no time, and he looks very cute while playing, too:

Plus, he has the floppiest ears ever:

Puppies are like babies in that, for some reason, they get hiccups all the time. There are lots of things that can send a puppy into a hiccuping frenzy, including:

  1. Getting too excited.
  2. Eating too fast.
  3. Being too cold.
  4. Eating something they shouldn’t.

Unfortunately for puppies, all four of those are basically the things that a puppy spends their entire first few months of life doing, so they encounter hiccups very frequently.

They go away pretty quickly, though you can do some things to help soothe them like belly rubs, giving them some peanut butter or yogurt to lick up slowly, or coaxing them into drinking some water. In most cases, hiccups go away within a few minutes.

Hopefuly, Koda learns how to avoid hiccups as he gets older, but honestly… I doubt it. He’ll probably be hiccuping for life!
