16 Sunday: The 15th annual Coronado Valentine’s Day 10K, 5K and one-mile run is kicking off at Tidelands Park at 7 a.m. Registration is open online at valentinesday10k.com until Feb. 16 at 8 a.m. (or when sold out) and day-of registration opens at the start line at 6 a.m.
16 Sunday: Art in the Park features artists specializing in oil, acrylic, watercolor, etching, photography, wood and metal working, stained glass and ceramics. Artwork will be on display in Spreckels Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the artists will be present to talk about their work.
19 Wednesday: The Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents Film Forum Coronado, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library’s Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story. The film showing on Feb. 19 will be “Detour” with a bonus showing of “Key Lime Pie.”
20 Thursday: The Republican Women of San Diego — Coronado Crown City will host their first meeting of the year at the Coronado Historical Association Lecture Room (1100 Orange Avenue) on Feb. 20 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The club encourages all members to attend. Erika Lowery, San Diego GOP Central Committee member, will be speaking on current issues being discussed at the San Diego Central Committee and plans moving forward. New members and all Republicans are invited to attend.
21 Friday: Experience the rich tapestry of sounds that Rick Ross creates as he showcases his skill on both the piano and saxophone on Feb. 21 at 1 p.m. in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library. His concert will feature popular songs like “New York State of Mind” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” This concert is free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
