In the school board meeting on Dec. 13, the board approved rate increases for public use of the swimming area at Coronado High School.

The fees will rise according to four tiers of criteria, with a 20% fee increase to the winter rate of the instructional pool.

Deputy Superintendent Donnie Salamanca said the Brian Bent Memorial Aquatics Complex (BBMAC) rates last increased approximately two years ago and rate changes for facilities everywhere else in the district were last updated in 2019.

Salamanca said Facilitron, the online portal to book facilities, will reflect some changes beginning January.

“ …We did conduct some comparison studies and we believe that these are appropriate and fair-market value for what we’re offering to the public,” said Salamanca.
