19 Tuesday: Every third Tuesday evening of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Coronado Public Library, the San Diego Shakespeare Society holds free open readings of plays. On Nov. 19 they will perform a staged reading of Troilus and Cressida Part 1.

20 Wednesday: The Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents Film Forum Coronado, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library’s Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story.

November’s film will be “Out of the Past.”

21 Thursday: The Coronado Historical Association presents its wine and lecture series, and this week, the public is invited to delve into the stories of golfers Alex Smith and Robert Scott Simpson. The lecture will go from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and participants can register at coronadohistory.org.

22 Friday: The November meeting of the Republican Women’s Club of Coronado, Crown City, will be held at the VFW, 550 Orange Avenue, on Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This will be a celebratory meeting. Those who wish, may purchase lunch. The new Coronado mayor elect and two Coronado Council members elect will be invited to speak.

22 Friday: Join the Coronado Public Library for an afternoon of classical piano, featuring Ines Irawati. Experience her expressive depth and technical brilliance as she performs timeless pieces by composers like Chopin, Beethoven and Liszt for an Autumn Sonata.
