Zavala Sol, a five-piece band, will be performing their unique mix of funky blues with a side of rock music on July 26 at 1 p.m. in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library.
The San Diego band was nominated for “Best Blues Artist” for the 2024 San Diego Music Awards.
Zavala Sol’s members came together in 2022 and achieved almost instant musical chemistry with their focus in blues, swing, southern rock and funk music. In less than six months together, the band released its first album of original music and was nominated as “Best New Artist 2022” by the San Diego Music Awards.
In July 2023, the band won the San Diego edition of the International Blues Challenge and represents the city in 2024 competing against bands from across the U.S. and other countries as well.
While they focus on original music, their covers are always in their unique style.
Supporting the lead singer, Carrie Zavala, are Mike VanDuyn on lead, rhythm and slide guitar; Karl Dring on guitar, blues harp and slide guitar; Bill Salisbury on bass and Jon Price on drums.
Doors will open 15 minutes before the performance. Find out more by heading to cplevents.org.
The Summer Festival is made possible thanks to the support of the Friends of the Coronado Public Library and the Hotel del Coronado.
