15 Monday: The Mystery Book Club, which meets regularly on the third Monday of each month in the Coronado Public Library’s Winn Room, will discuss “The Book of Cold Cases” at 2 p.m. Register at cplevents.org.

16 Tuesday: Every third Tuesday evening on the month at 6:30 p.m., at the Coronado Public Library, the San Diego Shakespeare Society holds free open readings of the plays, where all are encouraged to join and participate. On July 16, the staged reading will be of “The Tempest (Part One).”

17 Wednesday: The Coronado Public Library is hosting its first Animation Celebration, dedicated to showcasing an eclectic spectrum of styles and techniques in this vibrant and imaginative art form. This celebration will take place in two parts. The first will take place Wednesday, July 17 at 6 p.m. in the Winn Room. The second all-ages-focused celebration will take place on Saturday, July 20 at 2 p.m. and feature shorts to entertain the young and old. 

18 Thursday: Looking to mix up your cooking repertoire and learn to utilize more plant based ingredients? Join Chef Katie Farina at 11 a.m. in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library as she demonstrates easy ways to incorporate healthy plant options into your diet. She’ll demonstrate three easy to prepare, yet healthy meals so delicious you’ll be amazed they are plant based. Register for this event at cplevents.org.
