Stretching is an important part of a cats’ life. It’s one of the things they do best (other than making biscuits), and without a big stretch to comment on, what would we do? Nothing, that’s what.
However, one Maine Coon cat’s slow-motion stretching recently went viral, and for good reason. It puts even the biggest stretches most cats can muster to shame, and it’s so flawlessly majestic it’s hard to look away! See for yourself:

If I saw Monika De Leggrini’s Maine Coon out in the wild, I feel like I would be frightened. He looks like he means business!

This cool guy’s name is Prins, and according to their bio, he weighs 27 pounds. That’s a big cat! Even for a Maine Coon, he’s on the larger end: their average weight is around 20lbs. If he’s managed to get up to 2 feet in length like most male Maine Coons do, that would easily make him the size of a toddler. With fur. Terrifying.
Prins has a sister named Mala, though he’s kind of the star of the account. Mala is gorgeous too, with a grey coat everywhere but her feet. Those are white – if ever there was a cat that should be named Socks, it should be her! This duo is absolutely breathtaking, but they’re still cats, and that means they love to stretch, knead, and rub their little heads on everything. Somehow, though, it’s cuter when they do it.
Why do cats love to stretch?
Prins and Mala can be found stretching and kneading all the time. Most of the time, stretching happens on carpets or scratching posts because it provides a good grip; Prins manages a really big stretch on a hardwood floor, which makes him all the more epic.
Cats spend a lot of time sitting or lying in awkward positions. One of their favorite things to do is curl up to conserve body heat, so they need to stretch their muscles before they commence whatever physical activity they have planned. Stretching usually includes their claws, too: think of it like when you roll your wrist or ankle after sitting for too long. It just feels good!
Cats like to feel like they have the upper hand at all times, and feeling agile is the way to do that. Stretching can even be used to assert dominance over other cats; it says, “I’m stretched and ready to fight if I have to!” They remain nicely stretched, flexed, and poised to jump into chaos at all times, and Prins is no different, but he is certainly very pretty!
