Under the stars and against the beautiful backdrop of San Diego Bay, outdoor movie nights on the Coronado Ferry Landing’s bayfront lawn will kick off in April.

The Coronado Island Film Festival (CIFF), in partnership with the Coronado Ferry Landing and Nelson Photo & Video, will be showcasing “Finding Nemo” on April 20 at 7 p.m.

“We were all just on board to do something really fun, [to] do something that’s really inclusive, that brings families together,” Merridee Book, the CEO and artistic director of CIFF, said. “But also, it’s nice to highlight that side of the island as well.”

The collaborative effort is made possible with people like Will Lange from Nelson Photo & Video and Christian Herrera from the Coronado Ferry Landing, according to Book.

In December, CIFF presented “Elf” on a pop-up screen at the ferry landing. “Finding Nemo” will play on April 20 and “Top Gun: Maverick” will play on June 28. Photo courtesy of Merridee Book.

Book encourages friends and family to bring their own low-to-the-ground chairs, along with snacks and blankets.

Later in the summer, “Top Gun: Maverick” will play on June 28, the weekend leading up to the Fourth of July.

Tickets for both movies are free general admission; however, participants need to reserve their spots ahead of time.
