Last night at 8:50 p.m., the Coronado Police Department’s communications center received a call of a reported stabbing in the 1700 block of Avenida Del Mundo.
Officers arrived on scene and found two victims with stab wounds in the lobby of their condo building, according to the Coronado Police Department.
Officers located the suspect, the victims’ son, in the complex parking lot armed with a knife. The suspect ignored numerous commands to surrender and drop the weapon.
Officers deployed their taser, knocking the suspect to the ground. The suspect continued to ignore commands to drop the knife and stood back up. The officer activated his taser again and the suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect, La Mesa resident Adam Nordhues, was visiting his parents, both 69 years of age, in their condo when the unprovoked attack occurred.
The victims were transported to a San Diego area hospital with major injuries. Both are expected to survive. The suspect was transported to another hospital for minor injuries then booked into San Diego County Jail for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse and resisting arrest.
