The holidays are upon us, and while that means finding gifts for all of the humans in our lives, our furry friends should not go overlooked. Luckily, they don’t have to; just about every store on the planet sells at least one pet toy.

Trader Joe’s might just take the cake, though. In a TikTok from Sunday, November 5th, a pet parent gives us the scoop:

I don’t have a cat, but I do have a weird dog. I might take @chowderkitty’s advice and get this for him!

The toy in the video is being described as “cat garland.” It’s just a bunch of small cat toys strung together – which is basically paradise for cats. They love to chase things on string, so why not just have it be a never ending rope of toys? It’s not explicitly decorated in any holiday color scheme, which makes it ideal for year-round use and for anyone celebrating any holiday.

It looks like garland, and while you might be tempted to put it on your tree, it might not be a good idea. Cats already have a hard time not wreaking havoc on the tree, so adding something more for them to want to destroy is just about the worst idea ever.

What you could do, if you’re feeling crazy, is an entire cat-themed holiday tree. All you’ll need:

  1. A cheap cat tree
  2. Some plastic baubles
  3. Treats to put in said baubles
  4. Bells
  5. This cat garland

From there, you can dress up the cat tree for any holiday and have something safe for them to climb on and play with. Every day, you could open up one of the baubles and give the kitty a treat, just like a holiday advent calendar! If you know your cat loves to mess up your decor, something like this may be the perfect distraction.

As the cat plays with the garland, you might find that it starts to come apart. As soon as you notice that, it’s time to toss it. Allowing cats to chew on and ingest strings from toys like this is how they end up with blockages. Happy safe holiday pet parenting!
