Looking for some fun things to do?
The Coronado Library is hosting several events, and there’s a “Business Meet Up” at the end of the month. Here you go:
15 Friday – Renowned author and lecturer George Galdorisi will be updating his presentation on artificial intelligence, to include his outlook on AI for defense and commercial implementation from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Winn Room at the Coronado Public Library.
Galdorisi’s literary works include “AI at War,” “Fire and Ice,” “For Duty and Honor,” “The Coronado Conspiracy,” “Dark Zone,” “Scorched Earth,” “Into the Fire,” “Out of the Ashes,” “The Kissing Sailor,” “Act of Valor,” and “Leave No Man Behind.”
16 Saturday – Come sing with others in the community to celebrate the launch of the Library’s “Sit a Spell, Play a Tune” upright piano decorated with the art of Michael Ives at 1 p.m. Lyrics will be provided.
17 Sunday – Celebrate Oktoberfest with Coronado’s own Bavarian band, The Beer Mugs, at 3 p.m. in the Winn Room.
The band plays authentic Bavarian polkas and waltzes using the traditional instrumentation of two clarinets, a trumpet, a trombone, and a tuba.
Oktoberfest is the world’s largest Volksfest (“people’s festival”). It is held annually in
Munich, Bavaria, running from late September through the 1st Sunday in October. The
festival features music, dancing, and beer drinking. The Beer Mugs will intersperse
tunes with interesting facts about Oktoberfest.
21 Thursday – Karemi Alvarez will talk about what it takes to create an emotionally healthy childhood and why it’s critical to helping our kids thrive throughout their development and as 6 p.m. in the Winn Room at Coronado Public Library.
Alvarez will talk about the challenges we face as adults, mental health in early
childhood, and how to have a healthy relationship with our children. She will teach
principles based on the science of brain development and developmental psychology to
foster your child’s growth, their gradual self-discipline, and your inner growth as a
parent.
27 Wednesday — Hospitality and business managers are invited to a “Business Meet Up,” from 4 to 6 p.m. at Nicky Rottens Bar & Burger Joint, 100 Orange Ave. A team of leaders will discuss how to increase customers, attract and retain employees, improve profitability and avoid insurance mistakes. Several sponsors, including Group Benefit Partners, are hosting the event.
