If you plan on joining the cross country team this fall at Coronado High School, Coach George Green says to start now with base running and progress to other types of training over the summer break.

Green says success in cross country this fall is directly related to summer running.

After the state required no-contact from coaches period ends June 30, summer workouts will occur with an increased frequency, Green says.

Important dates

July 1 – Summer Workouts Begin: These workouts begin after the no-contact period runs from June 19-30.

August 19 – First Meet of The Season: The first meet of the 2023 season, the Vaquero Stampede, is Aug. 19. That is five days before the start of school. Only the runners ready for competition will attend the first invitational events, Green said.
