New York Times bestselling author Tess Gerritsen, a San Diego native whose novels inspired the hit television series “Rizzoli & Isles,” will be at the Coronado Public Library to speak on her newest book, “The Shadow Friends.”

The event is free and open to the public on Aug. 31 at 6:30 p.m. in the Winn Room of the library.

The book is Gerritsen’s third installment in her “Martini Club” series, which surrounds a group of retired spies who are dragged back into the world of espionage.

Gerritsen will talk about her writing inspirations as she delves into the world of mystery stories. This event will include an audience Q&A and a book signing.
