The Coronado High School boys’ and girls’ swim teams faced off against La Jolla High School in a couple of hard-fought battles.

The boys beat the Vikings by a slim margin, with the final score being 89-81. However, the girls fell short and lost 55-113.

Luca Morocco took first place in both the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke. Devin Ertekin took first in the 50 and 100 freestyle, and Gage Everitt won the 100 backstroke and butterfly events. Those three swimmers, along with Santi Garcia Rojo and Carter Mondzelewski took home a few relay wins.

On the girls’ side, Jillian Stachowicz narrowly beat out the closest La Jolla opponent in the 200 individual medley. Stachowicz also won the 100 butterfly, while Kailyn Cornell won the backstroke.
