10 Friday: The Coronado Junior Woman’s Club has opened applications for the Marilyn Foster Scholarship, offered to four senior girls graduating in the class of 2026, in the amount of $2,500 each. Those who either attend Coronado High or are a Coronado resident, and have plans to attend higher education in the fall, can apply by May 15 at coronadojuniorwomans.org/the-marilyn-foster-scholarship.
11 Saturday: The Coronado Democratic Club will host Brian Adams, professor of political science at San Diego State University, as its featured speaker on April 11 in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library. His presentation will focus on how local campaigns take place, and why early activity can play a decisive role. There will be a question and answer session following the 11 a.m. presentation. A social hour begins at 10:30 a.m.
11 Saturday: The KMAC Foundation’s Accessible Sailing fleet will host a volunteer training from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Coronado Yacht Club. The foundation uses specially adapted sailboats and provides therapeutic, recreational and other sailing opportunities for people with disabilities to enhance their mobility, well-being and independence.
14 Tuesday: The John D. Spreckels Center is hosting a free poetry night on April 14 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. featuring Paola Capó-GarcÃa, San Diego’s poet laureate of the year. Reservations can be made at coronado.ca.us/civicrec or by calling (619) 522-7343.
15 Wednesday: The Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents Film Forum Coronado, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library’s Winn Room.
Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story. The featured film on April 15 is “Philomena.”
19 Sunday: The Coronado Ferry Landing is slated to host a free weekend concert featuring The Lovalot Group from 2 to 5 p.m.
