Cancer Cartel continues its mission to fight the cost of cancer with a high-end resale shopping event.

On March 12, Fashion Funds the Fight returns to Coronado from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. to raise funds for people battling cancer. Attendees will have the opportunity to shop curated pieces from local residents and boutiques.

Cancer survivors Shelly Tinney-Miller, Kerry Solmonsen and Katy Tinney-Olson co-founded Cancer Cartel in 2019 to provide financial relief to individuals undergoing cancer treatments.

Since its inception, Cancer Cartel has raised over $1.22 million which it has given away as direct financial grants, according to the organization’s 2025 annual report. The report says Cancer Cartel supported 393 cancer warriors in 2025 and is looking to increase the number of warriors helped by 25 percent in 2026.

Organizers say that apart from fashion finds, the event will feature music by DJ Tee Lynn, food by a local Coronado caterer, Medina Redzepovic. The event’s location, a private residence in Coronado, will be emailed to ticket holders prior to the event.

The event page says there are four drawing prizes for opportunities at the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe, Glomi Wellness Lab, Opalo Yoga & Pilates Studio and the Accalia Salon.

“One hundred percent of the funds raised will go directly to cancer warriors in financial distress,” said the organization online. “This is fun and fashion with purpose. We cannot wait to see you there!”
