21 Saturday: The Coronado Democratic Club is slated to host mediator and conflict resolution expert Bill Eddy for a presentation on Saturday, Feb. 21 in the Winn Room at the Coronado Public Library.
Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for a half-hour social gathering. The formal program will begin at 11 a.m. and conclude at 12:30 p.m. Bill Eddy is a lawyer, therapist, professional mediator and co-founder of the High Conflict Institute.
22 Sunday: The Coronado Ferry Landing is slated to host a free weekend concert featuring “Pomerado” from 1 to 4 p.m.
22 Sunday: This year marks the 5th season of the Coronado Island Film Festival’s educational classic film series, which introduces middle and high school students to films from the Golden Age of Hollywood. On Feb. 22 at 1:30 p.m. in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library, the featured film screened will be “To Kill a Mockingbird.”
23 Monday: The Coronado Soroptimist club is hosting a human trafficking awareness and prevention program in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 23. Middle and high school students, and any interested community members, can watch a film screening along with a follow-up panel discussion.
25 Wednesday: The Coronado Public Library’s Best of the Best Book Club meets regularly on the 4th Wednesday of each month to discuss books that have won major awards. For the February meeting on Feb. 25 at 11 a.m., the 1988 Pulitzer Prize Winner “Beloved” by Toni Morrison will be discussed.
25 Wednesday: The Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents Film Forum Coronado, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library’s Winn Room.
Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story. The featured film on Feb. 25 is “Robot & Frank.”
