Dogs are known for being excellent companions to humans for so many reasons, like their loyalty and their unconditional love. And sometimes, that dedication to the people they adore can end up saving their lives.

One Goldendoodle named Chase recently became a hero when he saved his family after their house was on fire. Without his quick thinking, this scary situation would have been even worse.

In this report shared by @abc7ny on TikTok, the news outlet shared that a very tiny 2-year-old Goldendoodle in Long Beach, California acted quickly early Sunday morning when he realized that his home was on fire — and he even woke up his family before the smoke detectors began going off!

It wasn’t just Chase’s house that was on fire, either; the house next door was up in flames, too, so Chase ended up saving a lot of people’s lives that day, including a couple in their 80s who needed assistance from firefighters to make their escape.

The Assistant Fire Chief, Rick DiGiacomo, explained, “The residents were woken by the dog barking, and then looked out and saw the fire.”

Chase may only weigh 12 pounds, but he exhibited some major bravery beyond his tiny size that day.

Chase isn’t the only Goldendoodle hailed a hero recently

There’s absolutely no doubt that Chase is the best boy, but as it turns out, other pups of his breed have been known to be quick thinkers when a fire is breaking out in recent years!

In April 2024, a Goldendoodle named Archie who lives in Wisconsin alerted his dad, Brandon Stier, and his five-month-old baby that there was a fire in their apartment, allowing all three of them to escape safely.

As WISN reported at the time, firefighters were able to get Brandon, Archie, and the baby into the truck to warm them up, and those working on the scene described Archie as “such a well-behaved dog.”

“Archie is not always very observant, so luckily, when it came down to it and we needed him to be paying attention, he was paying attention,” Chelsea Flynn, Brandon’s fiancè who wasn’t home at the time, told reporters. “He showed up and saved the day, made sure the family was safe.”

Both Archie and Chase are major heroes. All the treats for these good boys, please!
