Flutist Pam Vliek Martchev is slated to perform works spanning musical traditions on Friday, Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. at the Coronado Public Library.

In a performance featuring the flute, alto flute and piccolo, Martchev will showcase a diverse lineup of composers including Marin Marais, Eugene Bozza and Sigfrid Karg-Elert.

Martchev is a celebrated performer with a career that reaches across major orchestras, festivals and international stages. She served as principal flute of the Boulder Philharmonic for 10 seasons and has appeared as guest principal with ensembles such as the San Diego Symphony, Pacific Symphony and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra.

Beyond the concert hall, Martchev’s playing can be heard on film soundtracks, television specials, commercial recordings and in Broadway touring productions including, “The King and I,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “Wicked,” and “My Fair Lady.” She currently serves as flute professor at San Diego State University, Point Loma Nazarene University, the University of San Diego and the San Diego Summer Music Institute.

Doors open at 12:45 p.m. and the event is free and open to the public.
