Naval Base San Diego has cancelled the “Meet the Fleet at 32nd Street,” a San Diego Fleet Week public event previously scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1, due to the continued lapse in appropriations resulting from the ongoing federal government shutdown.

“We understand this event is a major highlight for the San Diego community and for our sailors; the decision to cancel was not made lightly,” said Capt. Brian Bungay, commanding officer of Naval Base San Diego. “We want to ensure compliance with federal policy while also providing timely notification to community partners, schools, vendors and families who had planned to support. Meet the Fleet at 32nd Street remains one of our favorite ways to connect the Navy with our incredible community, and we look forward to hosting it again in the future. We appreciate the community’s continued support and understanding.”
