It’s orchard time. I’m from New England, and I actually used to work at one of USA Today’s top orchards in the country, so you know I know a thing or two about orchards. They’re the best place to be, and luckily, a lot of them are pet-friendly!

If you’re lucky enough, you’ll find an orchard that does it all: blueberries, apples, and a pumpkin patch. Throw in a corn maze? Oof, sold. However, one family had one more request: being able to bring their parrot there.

Their wish was granted on Monday, October 6, and they took full advantage. This adorable Cockatoo’s parents dressed her up and brought her right down for the best possible fall experience:

Bella the Umbrella is easily in my top 3 favorite TikTok Cockatoos of all time. She’s just such a little princess, always wearing a little bow in her hair and her precious pink leash. Her parents love to show her off, as they should! She’s gorgeous!

She loved her day out at the pumpkin patch. She got to do all of the essentials, from picking her pumpkin to going on a wagon ride. There was also some sort of snack at the beginning, though we’re not sure exactly what it was.

Probably not apple cider donuts, which aren’t good for birds, but are one of the main reasons most humans go to the orchard. Even without that, though, Bella still had the best time!

Respectfully bringing a pet to an orchard

If you want to bring your pet apple or pumpkin picking with you, you should! A lot of them will really enjoy it, and a lot of the other people there would get a kick out of it, too!

Whether you’re bringing your dog, your parrot, or your fish in his little bowl, you need to be respectful just like you would at any other place of business! That means:

  1. Cleaning up after them if they make a mess.
  2. Keeping them leashed up at all times.
  3. Not letting the eat off the bushes/take bites out of low-hanging fruit.

Some orchards also have indoor spaces: those may not be pet-friendly. There should be signs posted, or you can ask someone. Luckily, everyone wanted Bella to go wherever she wanted!
