Canines are incredibly adaptable and resilient regardless of the obstacles they face. Dogs are adept at acclimating to physical or environmental limits and living a full life. This includes any physical challenges they may experience, where they learn to thrive in spite of an impairment.
Tyrion, who appears to possibly be a Doodle mix, uses a wheelchair for his back legs due to paralysis. He recently had a playdate with Luna, potentially a Pomeranian mix, who also has a wheelchair to get around. When the two pups got together, it was quite a scene.
@diggydaggTyrion had the best time meeting Luna 💕🐶 And it’s always fun for me to meet other paralyzed dog owners and talk about all the ups, downs, techniques, what works, what doesn’t, etc. Owning a disabled dog can be really difficult but these little reminders that we’re not alone are so incredibly helpful and heartwarming ♥️ #wheelchairdog #dogsoftiktok #paralyzeddog #dogdate
The TikTok from @diggydag showed their initial meeting, where Tyrion seemed to be the extrovert of the two dogs. He sniffed Luna and made some attempts at contact, which Luna wasn’t crazy about.
“Paralyzed dogs meet for first playdate and it’s adorably awkward,” the onscreen text read.
There was a little scuffle and their wheels got stuck together, making for quite the comical scene. After they untangled themselves, their interaction was still a little tricky.
“At first, they weren’t exactly sure how to play,” the story continued. “Hesitant to hurt each other or go too fast. A little sniff, a little spin… what do we do now?”
At one point, Luna just started barking at Tyrion as if to say, “This isn’t working — let’s try something else.”
Dogs ditched their wheelchairs
Since the two new furry friends had a hard time finding their footing at first, their parents decided to give things a try without their wheelchairs. The two dogs expertly dragged their hind legs around as they played, unencumbered from the chairs.
The precious pooches started to build a rapport as they spent more time together and bonded over their similarities.
“Awkward beginnings — the start of a new friendship,” the story concluded as the two dogs sweetly faced each other.
Tyrion’s mom shared in the caption how meeting another parent of a paralyzed dog was invaluable support to her.
“Tyrion had the best time meeting Luna,” she wrote. “It’s always fun for me to meet other paralyzed dog owners and talk about all the ups, downs, techniques, what works, what doesn’t, etc. Owning a disabled dog can be really difficult, but these little reminders that we’re not alone are so incredibly helpful and heartwarming.”
It looks like these two fur baby friends are off to a great start.
