Cows are sometimes referred to very affectionately as “field puppies,” because honestly, that’s what they are. They’re sweet, they mean well, and they always seem incredibly playful. They’re just so awesome and friendly, just like a puppy would be!
On Wednesday, September 10th, a herd of cows decided to give a sweet senior dog a hero’s greeting. When the pup made it over to the fence, they all lined up to welcome him, and it was pure sunshine! Just look:

Samantha Brooke is so lucky to have these cows for neighbors. I know they’d do anything for that dog!
Her dog’s name is Corbie, and he’s 17 years old. She says he has some problems, especially with his sight and his body overall. He’s not all there, but she loves him anyway, and so does everyone else in their house!
He still gets to go outside every day to potty and play as best he can. When he’s out there, though, he’s started drawing a pretty cool audience: her neighbor’s herd of cows! This isn’t the first time they’ve come over to watch him play out there.
He’s lucky to have such a good yard to wander, too. His golden years are being spent as a very happy boy:

The sweetest boy ever. I would be moseying over to stare at him, too! Lucky cows!
Do cows like dogs?
There are countless examples of cows liking dogs, playing with them, and just observing them. Cows are very social animals, so they love making all of the friends they possibly can. If a cow is raised on a farm with dogs (which many are, think livestock guardians and herders), they learn to love them!
However, if they’ve never been around dogs before, you should definitely be careful. Cows can sometimes feel like dogs are a threat, especially if they start running or barking at them.
Luckily, Corbie is surrounded by cows who love him. They’re there to cheer him on!
