The Coronado Historical Association (CHA) is scheduled to host its sixth annual Collections Luncheon on Oct. 7, featuring a display of WWII artifacts and archives.

Vickie Stone, the curator of collections, will present an overview of the association’s ongoing preservation efforts.

Additionally, Mary Ann Chapple will be honored for her many years of service to the CHA community. According to Stone, Chapple has had an active role at the CHA for years, including on the acquisitions committee and as past president in 1995.

Stone said her role at the association in the mid-90s was crucial for fundraising efforts for the Beach House Museum on Loma Avenue. She coordinated a block party celebrating the 50th anniversary of the end of WWII, complete with the WWII era vehicles, food and the singing group, “The Andrews sisters.”

The luncheon will end with a silent auction of homemade baked goods.

All funds raised support the operations of CHA’s Collections Department, which is tasked with preserving the artifacts and archives that make up the association’s collection.

Tickets are $75 per person, $550 for a table, and can be purchased at coronadohistory.org or by calling (619) 435-7242.
