The life of a touring musician seems pretty glamorous, and there’s no doubt that, at least part of the time, it is. But I really do feel for musicians who have pets at home. Saying goodbye to my dog before I go on vacation is hard enough — imagine not being able to see your furry BFF for months at a time!
There is an upside to that kind of separation from your pets, though: it just makes the reunion all the sweeter when you finally do get home. That’s something country star Jo Dee Messina got to experience firsthand this week when she returned from her tour and found her gorgeous Great Pyrenees excitedly waiting to welcome her back.
@jodeemessinaAlways excited to come home to this!!! He gives the best greetings ever !!💜🐶🤣 #fyp #jodeemessina #viral #dogsoftiktok #imalright
In the video that Messina shared on Tuesday, August 12, we can see her dog running to her in slow motion before they embrace as she lip syncs her hit song “I’m Alright.”
“When you get back home after being out on tour,” she wrote in the video, adding in the caption, “Always excited to come home to this! He gives the best greetings ever!”
I don’t know who’s happier to see the other — Messina or her dog — but this is truly one adorable reunion. And given how gorgeous this dog is, it’s no wonder her fans are falling in love.
“A polar bear in the house!” one commenter wrote, while plenty more gushed over how beautiful the dog is (and they’re right, for the record).
If you follow Messina on social media, you know this isn’t the first time her delightfully furry pup has popped up in one of her posts. In June, he could be spotted in the background of her TikTok video about how she feels before she’s had her morning coffee.
And in a 2023 interview with Women’s World, Messina spoke about just how much her pets mean to herand the way they have helped her through tough times in her life.
“Pets always make you feel at home — you know you are loved,” she said at the time. “I have two dogs: One is named King, and then we have a mix pup named Tuffnut. The cat’s name changes. At first, my boys called her Purry, and now they call her Mittens. They always make us smile!”
She and her pets are lucky to have each other. Hopefully, they’ll all get to spend some quality time together now that she’s home!
