When a dog goes into a shelter, there are a whole slew of factors that go into how quickly they get adopted, or if they get adopted at all. Everything from their color to their breed or their age can make a huge difference, but one thing everybody discounts is their name.

On Monday, April 21st, one shelter posted the sweetest looking adoptable Pit Bull in the world. He’s been at the shelter for quite some time, and he’s really getting sick of it. You just have to see Gummy Bear for yourself:

@humanebrowardGummy Bear is as sweet as his name 🙏❤️   Gummy Bear has been through more than any dog should. After spending his whole life with a family he loved, he lost his home when his owner fell on hard times. 💔 But through it all, this 3-year-old sweetheart has stayed full of love and trust.   He’s gentle, affectionate, and eager to connect. Gummy Bear adores people — adults, kids, other dogs — and lights up when you pet him or toss him his favorite squeaky toy. He’s active and curious, but also happy to curl up beside you like the little couch potato he sometimes is.   He’s learning “sit” and “stay,” takes treats gently (hot dogs are his favorite!), and seems to be house trained. And the best news? We no longer need calming collars — Gummy Bear is starting to feel safe again. 🧡 Thank you to everyone who donated or sent collars to the shelter, the dogs greatly appreciate it!   Now Gummy Bear just needs someone to help him heal the rest of the way. Could that be you?   If you can’t adopt, please share Gummy Bear’s post 🙏 and consider donating to his care through our link in bio ❤️   To meet Gummy Bear or any other pet, please complete a pre-adoption application at www.humanebroward.com (link is in bio) and then stop by. The Humane Society of Broward County is located at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL and the adoption kennels open daily at 11 a.m. If you have questions call 954-989-3977 ext. 6.   #rescuedog #shelterdog #adoptme #adoptdontshop #staffylove #americanbulldog #americanbully #instapet #dogs #dogoftheday #dogsofinstagram #dogshelter #animalshelter #instadog #instadaily #pittie #pittiesofinstagram #pittbull #bullybreed #pittielove #staffy #muttsofinstagram #AdoptGummyBear #RescueLove #FromHeartbreakToHome #SecondChances #AdoptDontShop

The Humane Society of Broward County is doing all they can for Gummy Bear. He deserves the sweetest forever home to rest his absolutely giant head!

Gummy Bear is 3 years old, and before he made his way to the shelter, he was genuinely loved. Unfortunately, life gets tough sometimes, and sweet Gummy Bear’s caretaker could no longer afford to keep him. They had no choice but to surrender.

He loves people. He loves to go for walks. He’s great with kids. He even loves other dogs, seems to be house trained, and knows how to take treats very gently. No worrying that he’s going to take off your hand when he goes to grab a treat!

Plus, he is seriously so handsome:

He’s a Pit/Boxer mix, and weighs about 66 pounds. He was super anxious upon arrival, as most dogs are, and they were lucky enough to receive enough donations for calming collars for some of their pups, including Gummy Bear.

Now, though, he’s becoming less anxious: he’s still living in the shelter, but he’s already coming out of his shell. He loves to meet new people, including prospective adopters!

That could be you! Gummy Bear can be adopted by both in and out-of-state residents! You can visit him in the flesh at 2070 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL., every day from 11am onwards.

All you have to do is fill out a pre-adoption application, though there’s no obligation to adopt if it doesn’t feel like the right fit. Gummy Bear is bound to be the right fit for someone, though! Could it be you?
