MotorCars on MainStreet is back again for its 36th year on May 4 for an event filled with novelty, nostalgia and really, really cool cars.

MotorCars on MainStreet was founded in 1988 by Coronado MainStreet as a way to celebrate Coronado’s identity through classic cars during Orange Avenue’s developmental growing pains.

It started with a handful of local car owners displaying their vehicles on the island, and has now turned into a regional attraction with over 400 show cars from 1980 and older.

And, it’s free.

Last year, the show highlighted lowriders as a special feature, and this year, Coronado MainStreet is going back to the “essence of the show” with a mix of returning fan favorites, locally owned Coronado vehicles and custom builds from multiple different eras.

Cars must be from 1980 or older, but this event welcomes a wide range of styles, from “show-quality originals to thoughtfully customized classics,” said Executive Director Karla Robles-Puig.

The cars will line Isabella and Orange avenues on May 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., complete with live music from Tommy Price and the Stilettos and food from restaurants downtown.

MotorCars on MainStreet is more than just a car show — it’s a living piece of Coronado’s story.

“MotorCars on MainStreet is more than just a car show – it’s a living piece of Coronado’s story,” Robles-Puig said.
