With so many “rare” breeds, it takes something really special to stand out, because they’re already unique for merely existing.

One breed is considered the oldest dogs in the world having been around for thousands of years dating back to the Aztecs who considered them sacred pups that had healing powers.

Maximo, a rare Xoloitzcuintli, is a direct descendant of those ancient dogs, but he has more important things to tend to—like commercials he hates.

Appropriately captioned, “Maximo had no shame barking at the sad puppies on TV,” you can see that the concerned Xoloitzcuintli has big emotions over the sad dogs, and I love that about him. I feel the same exact way.

The superstar pooch has more than 147k TikTok followers who tune in for his hilarious content day after day, and I can see why. As for this TV clip, it just gives everyone another reason to follow him.

One fan wrote, “I love him. I wanna give him lovies sooo bad,” while another stated he’s clearly a “skinwalker,” and not a dog which is the best comparison yet.

As the American Kennel Club notes, Xoloitzcuintli is the Aztec word for “dog,” thought they’re also known as “Mexican hairless dogs.”

For 5,000 years, these cuties have been loyal companions that comes in three sizes ranging from two feet tall at the shoulder all the way down to less than a foot. Talk about adorable!

However cute, this isn’t the kind of dog for the faint of heart. With oily skin, Xoloitzcuintlis require a regular skincare routine and adequate exercise to be their best “skinwalker” selves.

And if you’re looking for a guard dog to fight off intruders, they’re not it! They’ll bark to let you know you’re on your own, but will typically scurry off and hide around strangers.

One look at a dog like Maximo, and you can’t help but swoon.

If you weren’t familiar with Xoloitzcuintlis before, now’s the time to get to know them through Maximo. With such incredibly historic roots, these sweet pups have wisdom and devotion in their bones.

Just don’t expect them to love commercial with sad pets or they’ll riot (hard same).
