All of a puppy’s “firsts” are magical, but when it’s a foster pup learning what love feels like, it’s a million times better. Shaggy is just a wee little guy who hasn’t experienced much in his short life, but thanks to his new foster dad, he had his first beach day, and it was filled with the most gloriously perfect moments.
For an instant boost of serotonin, watch Shaggy’s thrilling day exporing ocean water, playing in sand, and being a cutie!

There’s so much to love about everything foster dad Evan Cooper (@_withcoop) is doing for Shaggy. As Dad to German Shepherd, Vader, Cooper is dedicated to giving the small pup the best of life for as long as he has the privilege and he’s made it his mission to continuing to foster dogs in need.
Based on Shaggy’s big day, I’ve concluded he’s not entirely sure of the ocean, sand is confusing when Vader’s kicking it everywhere, sticks are fun to chomp but Vader’s favorite ball is better, spinning tornadoes feels better in the sand, and post-beach naps are unmatched. Overall, 20/10, would recommend!
With so many perfect moments, fans of the beloved dog dad weighed in.
“Ok, but his little sand mustache,” one person wrote. “Stop it! His little swimmy leggies, his little tornadoes! My heart! Sweet baby boy!” another added.
Though just as many took notice of Vader with one commenting, “Vader is so big brother coded. He needs a forever sibling. Another wrote, “Vader is so chaotic, I love it,” while another fan titled the Shepherd “a total menace.”
Fostering saves lives
Thank goodness Cooper stepped in to care for Shaggy until his forever family comes along. As Four Paws USA explains, fostering literally saves lives, though there are a lot of other amazing things that happen.
For shelters at or over capacity, fostering means saving a pet’s life who may have otherwise met a different fate while also opening up space for another to take. Taking one of these babies home allows them to get the care and attention they need outside of the stressful shelter environment so they can relax and let their true personalities shine.
Having a home with schedules, routines, and training while they’re being properly socialized are huge wins and helps get them adopted. This rewarding experience allows a pet parent to learn new skills and prepare them for the second chance they’re waiting for and that’s priceless.
Shaggy’s first beach day was a smashing success. Up next? Wherever his forever family takes him.
