To recognize 2025 as the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, the Coronado Island Film Festival’s student classic film series will present a four month cinematic history lesson through showings of Hollywood films made during (or about) WWII.
Screenings will be sequenced to follow the timeline of the war.
The series, which is open to the public, will be introduced on Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library with a showing of “Mrs. Miniver,” starring Greer Garson who earned a Best Actress Oscar in the title role.
WWII-themed screenings will continue through May, concluding Memorial Day weekend with the quintessential “coming home” war drama, 1946’s Best Picture Oscar winner, “The Best Years of Our Lives.”
