Cockatoos are not only gorgeous and highly intelligent birds, but they can also be completely unhinged and absolutely wild. Just ask the mom of a Cockatoo named Preston, who woke up and decided to chase her all around the house with his head tilted sideways, all the while ranting at her and whistling a little tune.
One thing’s for sure, he’s adorable, but he sure isn’t shy about getting his point across!

The hilarious (and scary!) video was uploaded to the TikTok account for @Charity.redd7 and people are crying/laughing over this bird’s antics. One person commented, “Love that head tilt!! Preston woke up and chose violence.” He really did! Someone else added, “That running with his head tilted feels like something straight out of a horror movie!” Attack of the Wild Cockatoo!
So many people asked if Preston’s bites hurt, and his mom replied with an enthusiastic, “Yes!”
I can’t even imagine.
I’ve watched so many Cockatoo videos, and this is what I have to say. Cockatoo parents are a whole other breed. People who have Cockatoos are amazingly patient, and they spend so many years caring for these incredible birds (Over 50 years!). They also have to train them so they don’t, yes, chase them around the house with their heads tilted sideways, trying to bite them and screaming at them! I once read that someone compared Cockatoos to really overwound toddlers, and I believe it. I give Cockatoo parents all the credit in the world, but it seems like the rewards are so worth it. They can be so affectionate and smart. They are just such incredible creatures.
Someone in the comments asked, “I love Preston but what exactly is his story? Why is he always so angry with you?” and Preston’s mom explained, “He was a show bird before we got him, he likes the chase and the arguing!! He’s not fond of females, so me and my sister are targets.”
Here’s another video of Preston in action where he not only bit his mom, he then argued with her over biting her!

It’s so funny because he does get put in time out a lot! Oh Preston, never stop being you!
What to do if your bird bites

Birds use their beaks to move around, so some people assume when a bird is using their beak as an appendage, they are trying to bite their person. This isn’t true.
PetMD explains that ,”The best thing you can do if your bird bites is to gently put the bird down—just like giving a time-out to a child having a tantrum—and walk away. Try not to acknowledge the behavior. When the bird has calmed down and its body language indicates that it is ready to step-up calmly, you can go back to it and try to pick it up again.”
See? Just like a child having a tantrum! That describes silly Preston perfectly!
